In Matthew 19:16, "someone came to Jesus and said, 'Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?'"
This young man definitely asked the right question. This is a question that every living individual must ask at some point. Unfortunately, the young man who asked this question was not able to deal with the answer that Jesus gave to him. That answer: Give up everything that you hold dear and follow Me. Will you be able to give up everything that you think you love and follow Jesus?
Romans 6:6 informs us that when we become Christians, our old self is "crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;". Paul tells us, in Romans 3:23, that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". The question is not if you have fallen short or if you are a slave to sin. The question is: Are you able to accept those facts and crucify that old self so that you may become a slave to righteousness? If you can, then read on.
